about ann marsh

Ann Marsh originally qualified as a Graphic Designer in 1985 and ran her own studio in Cork, Ireland for 15 years. After a move to Waterford with her family in 2000, she decided to change career, due to a long held interest in ceramics. Following a short course in Grennan Mills, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny, she pursued private tuition and study for four years, after which she set up her own studio in Woodstown, Waterford.

Ann’s work is both design and art led. There are two strands to her work, Vessels and Sculptures. She’s primarily interested in the design and form of a piece with limited glazing so as not to distract from the form itself. When working with the vessels, Ann has a particular interest in manipulating the clay and enhancing the pieces by making deliberate markings through folding and cutting into them. The sculptural figures can be arranged in pairs and have a subtle suggestion of movement and dialogue. These pieces are hand built and high fired to stoneware.
